Hypnotherapy uses various relaxation and self-regulation techniques such as progressive muscular relaxation, meditation, covert systematic desensitisation and guided affective imagery as a gentle way of getting in touch with the sub-conscious mind.
Hypnosis is a way of helping people to feel very relaxed and to respond to suggestions and ideas that are going to help them. However, it is not the same as being asleep. When you’re asleep, you aren’t aware of what’s going on around you. During hypnosis, people usually say that they are still aware of what is going on around them but it doesn’t matter and they are still completely in control.
Hypnotherapy can be useful for many issues, some of these may be depression, anxiety, insomnia, weight control, smoking and nervous disorders.
I frequently combine this therapy with Holistic Kinesiology, Journey Therapy and Holistic Living Counselling to cover almost all aspect of health.
